Piazza di Spagna is one of the most famous squares in Rome and its name derives from the presence of the Spanish Embassy since the 17th century.

The staircase of Trinità dei Monti is the main element of Piazza di Spagna and the best known in the world of this place. It was built in 1723 and the initial purpose of its construction was to connect the Spanish Bourbon Embassy to the Church of Trinità dei Monti which overlooks Piazza di Spagna.
The church of Trinità dei Monti was built in 1502 at the behest of the King of France Louis XII, but its construction was only completed in 1585. The facade is made up of two asymmetrical bell towers in the French Gothic style.
Barcaccia Fountain (Fontana della Barcaccia) is one of the most famous fountains in all of Rome and is located beneath the Trinità dei Monti staircase.
It was built by Gian Lorenzo Bernini in 1627 on behalf of Pope Urban VIII. The fountain owes its name to the characteristic shape of a barge, honoring the flood that caused the Tiber to overflow in 1598. Column of the Immaculate Conception built in 1857, is dedicated to the dogma of the Immaculate Conception, proclaimed in 1854 by Pope Pius IX.
The column is 12 meters high and on the top is the statue of the Virgin Mary, entirely made of bronze. At the base of the column are the four statues depicting David, Ezekiel, Moses and Isaiah.
