Dresden

One of the most interesting destinations in Germany is Dresden with its more than 500,000 inhabitants.

The city on the Elbe River that in 2021 celebrates the 815th anniversary of its foundation, capital of Saxony and UNESCO World Heritage Site, rich in extraordinary artistic treasures and architectural masterpieces.

A mixture of tradition and modernity in the wonderful setting of the river landscape.

The most important monuments in Dresden are the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity (Hofkirche), the Church of Our Lady (Frauenkirche) rebuilt as a symbol of reconciliation after the destruction of the Second World War, the magnificent Semperoper Theater and the Zwinger, the most famous building in Dresden with classic Baroque architecture and rich decorations.

The Versailles-inspired Zwinger Palace is home to museums including the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister, where masterpieces such as Raphael’s “Sistine Madonna” are on display.
