Riisitunturi National Park (Riisitunturin kansallispuisto in Finnish) was established in 1982 and is located in Finnish Lapland near the Russian border.
Covering an area of approximately 77 km², it is one of the few places in Lapland with a unique microclimate.
The humidity is such that ice and snow can accumulate on the spruce trees and surrounding Lappish hills, resulting in the formation of tykki, or snow-covered trees.
The Riisin Rietas trail and the circuit around Mount Riisitunturi offer spectacular panoramic views, especially popular during the winter season.
Over the years, the park has become a popular destination for nature tourism, offering well-marked trails and rest huts, promoting an authentic nature experience.
