Notranjska Museum is located in the center of Postojna and houses the most comprehensive exhibition on the Karst in Europe.
The exhibition is arranged over three floors, beginning with the extraction of karst marble and culminating in the evolution of cave exploration over the centuries.
The stalactite formations in Postojna Cave (dedicated article) and in 10,000 other karst caves in Slovenia are illustrated.
Another very important room in the museum is dedicated to the medieval treasure from Predjama Castle (dedicated article).
You can also admire the skeletons of Ice Age animals, such as cave bears, steppe bison, and the remains of a cave lion, rhinoceros, and hippopotamus.
One room is dedicated to microscopic observation of numerous cave animals and bacteria.
