Also known as the Memorial of Georgia’s History, this structure pays homage to Georgia’s past and the role of Christianity.
Built as a symbol of national pride and a celebration of Georgia’s rich history, the Georgia Chronicle Memorial is one of Tbilisi’s top landmarks.
Overlooking Tbilisi from Mount Keeni, it was built in 1985 by Georgian sculptor Zurab Tsereteli and features 16 columns almost 30 meters high.
The bronze columns depict significant historical and religious events, scenes from Georgian literature, and important figures such as King Mirian III, Queen Tamar, and the poet Shota Rustaveli.
The lower sections illustrate key events in the life of Jesus Christ, while the upper sections show heroes and illustrations from the oldest Georgian history.
