Konjic

Konjic is located in the North Herzegovina region, about 50 km from Sarajevo.

The city extends on both banks of the Neretva River, the same one that flows through Pocitelj and Mostar on its way.

During the Yugoslav Wars, the city had considerable military importance as it is located on the main road that connects Sarajevo to the rest of Herzegovina.

The town of Konjic has a long history of arts and crafts with numerous local artisans producing traditional artifacts such as pottery, carpets, and wooden objects.

The most interesting places are the Konjic Bridge and the Jablanica Mosque.

Konjic Bridge was built in the 17th century and is one of the few well-preserved bridges built during the Ottoman period in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the middle of the bridge passes the cultural and traditional border between Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Jablanica Mosque is located in the historic center of the city and the construction dates back to the eighteenth century. Built in Islamic style, it has numerous carved decorations that make it the most beautiful in the region.
